Diocesan Council 2017 met at the Fellowship Deaconry in Liberty Corner, NJ, Thursday and Friday November 2-3, 2017.  The location is right off Interstate 78 (exit 33) east of the intersection with I-287.  Opening Communion will be held at Covenant Chapel R.E. Church in Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday morning at 10AM.  Thursday lunch and dinner, Friday Morning Prayer and all business and teaching sessions will be at the Deaconry.

A limited number of on-site rooms are available at a significantly reduced rate compared to nearby hotels.  Reservations will be First-Come, First-Reserved, and notice will be posted here when they are filled.

Rooms closed – list already sent to Fellowship Deaconry!

Registration for Diocesan Council is online-only at RegOnline.com.  Full registration includes the cost of Council AND Thursday lunch and dinner at Fellowship Deaconry.  Additional options at registration allow you to reserve a room at the Deaconry if they are still available.  NOTE that rooms prices are $20 more ($65 –> $85) if you are not sharing the room with another registrant.  There is a field on the Profile page for you to enter the name of a person you would like to share the room with, if you select a shared room.  Requests will be honored if possible, but the Diocesan Secretary will make final decisions.  You can pick up room keys along with your nametags at the registration table in the main lobby Wednesday afternoon, evening and Thursday morning.

A map of the Deaconry is below – meetings are in the building numbered 8 (top center):

Our Diocese is on the tithe system for it’s funding.

“‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.'”

Call for Nominations

To Rectors and Diocesan Members, From the Nominations Committee:

Nominations to the Diocesan Standing Committee, Board of Trustees, and Board of Directors for the Seminary are vitally important to the life of our Diocese. These committees are essential to the health and work of our Diocese.

Standing Committee: The Standing Committee deals with spiritual and disciplinary matters related to clergy and parishes. People elected to this board must be spiritually mature, understand the structure of the Diocese and able to deal with confidential issues. Most meeting are handled by conference call, however, and occasional face to face meeting may be necessary from time to time.
Trustees of the Diocese: The trustees handle the budgetary and other financial matters for the diocese. They meet twice per year for face to face meetings, and occasionally a conference call meeting is required. It is helpful if people who have business or financial expertise are elected to this board.
Seminary Board of Directors: Members of this Board serve in a governance capacity over the Seminary. People with experience in fundraising, business, non-profit corporations or academia are welcome. The Board meets three times per year, with occasional conference call meetings.

Please carefully and prayerfully consider nominating godly men and women from your parish. While it is true that we do not have a large turn over each year, we need names of qualified people to fill slots each year. If we get more names than openings, we will keep the names for future reference.

You may email your nominations to me or to any member of the committee, or to the Diocesan Office for forwarding to the committee.  Nominations for Fall 2016 are requested by Friday, October 13th.  Thank you for your cooperation.

The Rev. Gerald S. McLynn
Chairman, Nominations Committee

Registration for NE&MA Diocesan Council 2017:

Registration fee includes Thursday lunch and dinner costs as well as the cost of Council.  Standard registration fee (without lodging) is $75.  The other options are for requesting a shared or non-shared room at Fellowship Deaconry, or registering spouses or other family members who are with a delegate but will not participate in Council business meetings.  Your registration receipt email contains links to print a receipt, get directions, or change your registration details.

CLICK HERE (registration is now closed) to transfer to the RegOnline registration website for Diocesan Council.  This is the same site we have used in the past years, so you may already have an account.  You can click “forgot password” to have the system email you a link to reset your account.

Call the Diocesan Office at 610-292-9581 for help using the online registration system.

Hotel Reservation Instructions:

LIMITED number of rooms are available at Fellowship Deaconry at a discounted rate ($65 if shared, $85 if not).  Use the online registration system to request one of these rooms along with your registration.  If the room options do not come up on the first page, the rooms have been filled and are no longer available.

There are three more expensive hotels at the same interstate exit (Exit 33 off I-78) as Fellowship Deaconry.  Since we are not able to guarantee them a certain number of rooms, we were not able to get a discounted rate from any of them.  They are highlighted here for consideration, but please check on current rates:

Courtyard by Marriott Basking Ridge    908-542-0300    ~$180-200
Hotel Indigo Basking Ridge    908-580-1300    ~$165-170
Somerset Hills Hotel    908-647-6700    ~$140-165

This map below shows some other options within 15 miles of the Deaconry (located under the cluster in the upper-middle topped by $206).  Most of the cheaper ones are south along I-287, Rt. 22 and Rt. 18.  Please check hotel ratings sites such as TripAdvisor as to the quality of experience at some of these cheaper options.  YMMV…
